As a full IATA member, we have a team trained to CAA standard for hazardous air cargo that is skilled in dangerous goods packing. Strict regulations govern the transport of dangerous goods, and packaging is an essential component. The IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations provide packing instructions for all dangerous goods acceptable for air transport with a wide range of options for inner, outer and single packagings. We hold stocks of various sizes of disposable 2-8°C and 15-25°C boxes which can be built upon pallets.
Gaint Packers is also at the forefront of innovative cold chain solutions; we use refrigerated units, which are insulated units without mechanical refrigeration. Eutectic refrigeration allows the required temperature to be maintained for over 24 hours for chilled and frozen products. These solutions are ideal for airports that do not have adequate warehousing/cold-storage facilities.
SECURITY
Gaint Packers is a Known Cargo Agent which means we have been given special security status by the Civil Aviation Authority / Department of Transport to security screen cargo. The regulations have extremely strict compliance rules especially regarding who we employ. As per the CAA regulations, ALL our staff undergoes thorough and stringent reference checks which include a 5 year Government background check, as well as a Criminal Records, Check (CRB). And all our staff wear their Identity Cards at all times.
We have a state of the art airport-style security screening methods to identify any prohibited or dangerous items.
16 CCTV Cameras track the movement of everything coming into and leaving our Warehouse and we can provide a complete audit trail from pick-up to delivery at the airport.
Once the cargo has been security screened it is loaded straight onto the lorry and the shutters are secured with special serial-numbered seals. All transport vehicles are fitted with CCTV cameras and GPS tracking.
Regular unannounced inspections from the Department of Transport take place to ensure these security protocols are strictly adhered to.
Out of 10,000 Freight-forwarders in the UK – only 600 have this special license.
